My #1 Tip for Anxiety
Everyone is experiencing a lot of anxiety related to being at home. Not only that - they are also experiencing Zoom and online fatigue.
When we are anxious, it’s because there is a lot of fear attached to the unknown, the economy, finances, health, our jobs, etc. A top human need is security. When we feel that our security is at stake, we feel like the situation is out of our control. We feel that there is a legitimate threat towards something that we deeply care about.
Something important to remember is that the more we act like anxiety isn’t there, the more it chases us down. The first step is to acknowledge your feelings and why you feel that way.
I use the 4 & 4 technique whenever I start feeling anxiousness rise up in my chest. I inhale for 4, and exhale for 4. I usually repeat this for about a minute or until the anxiety subsides.
Try this tip right now-
Pause, Inhale 4, Exhale 4
Inhale confidence, exhale doubt.
Inhale faith, exhale fear. Inhale deeply, exhale completely.
