5 Steps To Create More Positivity In Your Life

Negativity can have a significant impact on our everyday lives. There are various things that can cause negativity, which can be draining. Understanding what is causing this negativity and clearing it out of your life will help you achieve happiness.

You’ve probably heard people say that the key to happiness is positivity. If you think positively, all of the negativity will drift away. The problem with this method is that happiness starts at the subconscious level. While thinking positively can help, you need to make certain changes in your life to increase your happiness.

The first step to achieving happiness is discovering the state you’re in for most of the day. Do you typically feel positive or negative?

Those that feel negative often are frustrated in their day-to-day lives, which is not a surprise since modern society has us in such a hurry. But what causes this frustration and how do we cleanse ourselves of this negativity?

The answer to achieving happiness is fulfillment. Unfortunately, most people correlate fulfillment with achievement. While achieving goals can make you feel good, it causes you to fall into the never-ending circle of climbing the ladder. This most commonly ends up being a corporate ladder. The negativity caused by this never-ending search for fulfillment can enter other parts of your life.

If you feel as though the negativity surrounding you is dragging you down, you’re likely an empath. An empath is a person that absorbs other people’s energy. If the negativity in the news, social media, or those around you weighs on your mind, you have more empathy than the average person.

The good news is that you can resolve this issue. You can’t stop being an empath but you can surround yourself with more positivity. Mental health is like any other preventative health. You need to treat it in order to heal yourself. You can think of it like exercising or nutrition for your mind and emotions.

If you feel as though the negativity is dragging you down, there are some steps that you can take. These steps will help you clear out the negative and reset your emotional balance.

5 Steps to Clear Negativity Out Of Your Life

1. Be Self Aware

The first step to clearing out the negativity in your life is finding out where it exists. To achieve this, you must be able to look at yourself and how you live your day-to-day life. Are you always frustrated? Considering your emotional state on a weekly or biweekly basis will help you determine if this is a problem.

2. Assess Your Priorities

What are the most important things in your life? Some people might consider their job the most important, while others might prioritize family. Write down your three top priorities and consider how you can improve your time management. That leads us into number three.

3. Assess Where You Are Today

Now that you have those top three priorities, consider how you can improve your time management. For example, if family is listed as a top priority, how much time are you spending with them? How can you incorporate more time with your family without neglecting your work obligations? This will allow you to change your habits to prioritize what you feel is most important.

4. Clear Out Negativity

If you’re an empath, negativity has a significant impact on you. This negativity can come in the form of the news, social media, or those around you. The way you can determine if something is causing negativity is by determining how it makes you feel. If you feel worse after watching the news or reading social media, you need to exclude that from your life.

Replace those negative activities with something that makes you feel good. Most of our passions don’t change. If you enjoyed something as a child, you’ll likely still enjoy it today. In some cases, you can make this passion your career. Others might simply take up a hobby that they enjoy. Remember, it’s never too late to follow your passion and this will help to create positivity in your life.

5. Create a Mental Health Routine

Nothing is more important than your mental health and creating a routine to support your mental health can have a tremendous impact. This will be different for everybody but could include morning meditation, evening meditation, journaling, walking outside, painting, or putting a puzzle together. Whatever makes you calm and allows you to relax can be used to improve your mental health.

Going through these steps may not be easy for everyone. It can be a painful process. If you find that those around you are a cause of your negativity, it could mean ending friendships or romantic relationships. In this case, determine if those relationships add value to your life. If they cause more pain and stress than happiness, you might consider ending those relationships.

The hardest part of this whole process is clearing out the negativity and replacing it with positivity. You have to dig deep within yourself to determine what’s most important and how to make those changes. However, these changes will bring aspects into your life that really matter.

In the end, you have to understand that the only thing you can control is yourself. This includes your internal emotions and internal response. You can’t entirely control your children, your boss, or those closest to you so you have to work on yourself.
