Consider this when Setting Your New Year’s Resolution

Can you believe that 2019 has come and gone in the blink of an eye? I’m sure the past year has brought memories of laughing, crying, and crying while laughing. I’m almost positive that you have encountered some failures, disappointments, and possibly even regrets. But what trumps this is that you also might have experienced success, happiness, joy, and the love of family, friends, and colleagues.

As you look back and reflect on 2019, ask yourself a few questions prior to setting your New Year’s Resolution.

  1. What went well this year?

  2. What are some things that I wish went better?

  3. What do I want for this year?

  4. Who do I have to be to get what I want for this year?

I encourage you to sit and ask yourself these 4 questions. Think and meditate on it so you can become crystal clear on what you want for 2020.

The key to setting a resolution is to make sure it is putting you on the path to where you strive to be. Once you have a resolution picked out, it’s time to strategize the upside and downfalls of selecting your goal.

  • What could get in the way of this goal?

  • Ask yourself, are you 100% ready for this change?

Once you answer a resounding YES! It’s time to get to work. Choosing what you want is the beginning of a long path, but it doesn’t stop here… it STARTS here. This is the time to strategize your motivation level and how bad you want it. People do not achieve their New Year’s resolutions because they have weak wants or limiting beliefs about themselves.

When motivation runs out at 5am, will you still have the determination and drive? Repeat after me…

I AM DETERMINED. I AM COURAGE. I AM STRENGTH.

However, if there is one phrase to remember when you’re going through 2020, it’s KEEP GOING.
This technique helps me get through the valley when I am on my way to my goal. The beautiful thing is, once you get through that valley, you suddenly are on top of a mountain. Every mountain has a valley.

Keep this in mind as you start your year off on the right foot. Humans don’t use their full capacity and full potential because until we stretch ourselves we don’t know what we are capable of.
