The TOP Reason Why Your Affirmation Isn’t Working
I think we have all been there, we are assigned a task at work and we think to ourselves…“I am terrible at this, what was my boss thinking!?”
I remember one time my boss put me in charge of a big project where I was serving as quality control. In other words, I was picking out the problems and reviewing the project. Did I mention that I STRONGLY DISLIKE reviewing things and my biggest weakness is attention to detail?
So, what is the easiest thing that you can change when you are plagued with a task that you aren’t confident about?
Your self talk…
In specifics, affirmations…
Affirmations are internal dialogue and can be used to break any habitual thinking patterns that have created a negative impact on you. We are affirming throughout every single day whether we are doing it consciously or subconsciously.
You know what’s even more sad? Neuroscience studies tell us that 90% of our thoughts every day are RECURRENT thoughts.
If you are assigned an arduous task, or having to attend a high pressure meeting, spending at least 3–5 minutes a day repeating positive thoughts to yourself can increase your confidence level and improve the outcome.
They also help stimulate the creative part of our brain.
But here is where people fall short…
Are you thinking to yourself…that’s great Shannon, but that just doesn’t work for me.
In order to turn your affirmation into reality you have to put in the work to align with your affirmation. For example, a few years ago I used to affirm that “I am bold,” but I wasn’t doing ANYTHING to step outside of my comfort zone.
It’s the equivalent to saying everyday that you’re healthy and then you choose unhealthy options for breakfast and skip your exercise routine every day.

ALIGN and take MASSIVE, BOLD action to become the person that you say you are.
